Over the weekend of 6th July, CCSS took a small team of swimmers to the Gemau Cymru and development meet run by Swim Wales.
We had some very good swims and came away with 15 Gold – 4 Silver – 5 Bronze – lots of 4th places and lots of pbs. Some amazing times swam at Gemau Cymru 2019
The Swim Wales Summer Open includes the Home Nation Summer Events and the Welsh Summer Open. The Home Nation Summer Events are the top 24 selected for British and the invited top swimmers, after those at British, who are invited to their respective home nation; for Wales this is the top 16 after those at British. These swimmers have priority/invited entry which must be made within the specified window.

Caerffili County Swim Squad Annual General Meeting 2019
The Annual General Meeting will be held at Caerffili Leisure Centre at 7.00pm on 8th March, 2019
Please note any items to be raised at the A.G.M have to be in writing and with the Secretary no later than 1st March, 2019 2018.
The nominations for Officers and committee members close on the 1st March, 2019.
There are three officers –
There are nine(9) ordinary committee members required; two of these positions are for Safeguarding officers, of which there must be one male and one female. Please ensure that the nominee is willing to stand for the position before nominating – nomination list will be in Caerffili.
Our relies on volunteers to undertake numerous jobs in the running of the club, an all parents and supporters are welcome to get involved in however way you are able. Please let the Secretary know if you would like more information on what being a committee member entails.
In addition to committee members, we are always looking for parents to undertake timekeeping and official course, so if you are interested in getting involved please speak to the secretary.
Caerphilly County Swim Squad – Long Course training dates for 2019
Long Course training will take place at the Cardiff International Pool from 08:00 – 10:00 am on Sunday mornings dated below.
These dates are in addition to all other training sessions and are not optional.
To be able to compete at Long Course meets, all A, B1and B squad swimmers, need to be training in a Long Course pool when sessions are available. You must swim the session prior with your squad to be able to train Long Course e.g.
- A squad must swim the Saturday morning session before Long Course
- B1 squad must swim the Saturday morning session before Long Course
- B squad must swim the Friday evening session before Long Course

- February 2019 – Sunday – 24th
- March 2019 – Sunday – 17th
- April 2019 – Sunday – 14th
- May 2019 – Sunday – 12th
- June 2019 – Sunday – 2nd
- July 2019 – Sunday 7th

If swimmers are not found to be utilising these Long Course sessions, then they will be cancelled – use them or lose them!
There are new meets available for all swimmers, together with results from the Greater Gwent Meet that took place on the weekend of 20/21 October.

Club championships this weekend at Caerphilly Leisure Centre
The CCSS championships is the start of another busy time of swimming, and the aim is to for all swimmers of the club to be able to compete in a friendly atmosphere and to gain times for the coming season. This will be a lot of swimmers first competition, so we ask that all swimmers and supporters show support during the weekend for all swimmers.
All swimmers need to be on poolside 15 minutes prior to the start of each warm up.
They will need, club T-shirt, costume, goggles, club hat, towel, flip flops and a small amount of food and water – there are to be no kit bags / mesh bags on poolside as space is limited. All swimmers are to stay with the coaches on poolside.
Friday – Warm up 06:30 pm – Start time 07:00 pm
Saturday – Warm up 12:30 pm – Start time 1:00 pm
Sunday – Warm up 12:30 pm – Start time 1:00 pm
There will be trophies and medal presentations during the Saturday and Sunday sessions and all swimmers are asked to stay for these.
There will be of course the usual Cannon relay at the end of Sunday, where the older swimmers and some coaches compete in a relay that is chosen at random – so please all try and stay to cheer !!!

Please be advised that the Pwll- y pant roundabout will be closed during the nights on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, from 7pm until 6 am the following morning – you will need to find an alternative route to training in Heolddu and Caerphilly – this will not affect the Club Championships, however, you may want to leave pleanty of time
