Timekeeper’s course

Timekeeper’s Course

Caerphilly Leisure Centre

As you will no doubt be aware, as a club we have very few qualified officials who represent the club at our targeted meets. To address this position we are holding the above course on Friday 21st June at 6.30pm.

It is open to all parents and swimmers over the age of 14.
The course will be in 2 parts. The first part will cover the technical aspects of time keeping and the second part will be a practical timekeeping session during B/B1 squad training session which starts at 8 o’clock.

Please contact Siân Boyles to register your interest. All you will need to bring with you is pen and paper and appropriate shoes to wear poolside. If you have a stop watch please bring it too. Don’t worry if you haven’t got one.

For the swimmers attending the qualification will count towards their Welsh Baccalaureate and/or any Duke of Edinburgh’s award.
For parents the benefits are:

• Free entry to galas, no queuing!
• Time flies!
• Lunch, tea and coffee provided!
• Good company and a bit of fun!
• A bit of kit and the occasional bottle of wine!

Should any parent require any further information please speak to Sian and he will answer your questions? He will be at the next training sessions on Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On completion of the course, all over 16’s will need to complete a CRB check to be able to officiate at galas and arrangements will be made to ensure they can be timekeepers at our club championships in September. For those who wish to progress and become a Level 1 Judge, courses are held throughout the year.
Please remember, without officials the galas wouldn’t take place, so please volunteer!
